Jim Beard Memorial Scholarship

Investing in Our Future

Our Friend Jim

A Legacy of Service & Leadership

Jim Beard, a proud Navasota High School and Texas A&M graduate, was a devoted businessman and community leader in Grimes County. From building one of the county’s top State Farm Insurance agencies to serving in numerous civic roles, including the Chamber, Economic Development Committee, Habitat for Humanity, and more, Jim embodied the values of hard work and giving back. He passionately believed in the value of youth and the essential role of trade careers in strengthening our economy.

This annual scholarship affirms the Chamber’s commitment to supporting Grimes County’s youth and building a strong foundation for the community's future.

Scholarship Details

Each year, the Navasota-Grimes County Chamber of Commerce proudly awards two $500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Grimes County. This financial assistance is designed to support students as they take their next steps into higher education or specialized career training.

The scholarship funds may be applied toward tuition, books, fees, or other educational expenses at a qualifying vocational or trade school, technical institution, college, or university. By offering this support, the Chamber not only honors the legacy of Jim Beard but also invests in the continued growth and prosperity of our region.

These awards reflect a commitment to inclusivity—recognizing that success comes in many forms, and education should be accessible to all, regardless of the path a student chooses.
