Serving Navasota, is a 25-bed critical access hospital with eight physicians, three internal medicine physicians, four family practice physicians, and one psychiatrists who provide excellent healthcare to the citizens of Grimes County. The hospital is incorporated under St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, Texas.

Beekeeping has been of commercial significance in the county since the 1880's. A number of apiaries and dairy farms remain in production today.
Grimes County provides many opportunities for hunting and fishing. We have exotic ranches, which include ostrich, alpacas, buffalo and other species.

Tourism and Festivals
The Gibbons Creek Reservoir and Park, located at Carlos, has camping, fishing, boating, skiing, swimming, birding/wildlife, or just relaxing in the sun. The Texas Municipal Power Agency (TMPA) has put together an archaeological and historical exhibit of materials found at the Gibbons Creek Lignite Mine.
