Winter cold spells seldom last longer than two or three days. Cloudiness is common in the mornings, but sunshine usually cuts through the overcast by noon. Snowfalls are rare, and most precipitation is light, steady rain. Summer daytime temperatures are high, sometimes reaching 100 F or more. Except for an occasional thundershower, there is little variety in the season. Spring/Fall temperatures vary. Short-lived warm and cool spells move back and forth across the area in spring. Fall weather is more stable, providing long periods of mild, fair days.

Winds are southerly, becoming strongest in March and April.

Thunderstorms occur throughout the year but reach their peak frequency in May. Late spring and early summer thunderstorms are sometimes accompanied by damaging winds.

Growing season averages 278 days from March 1 to December 4.

The terrain is hilly and partly forested, draining to the Navasota and Brazos rivers to the west and south respectively. Rich soils are found along the river bottoms. Gibbons Creek Reservoir offers fishing and boating year round.
